Roma Street Parklands, by the Waterfall, 6:30 PM on Fridays.
The lightsabers, mostly! Look for a group of people around the big stage area near the steps by the waterfall.
Yes, absolutely!
We welcome kids! We have participants as young as 11. As long as your child can hold a saber, we’ll find a way for them to join in.
Of course! Just remember, you’re a student too. Encourage them but leave the training to the night’s instructor.
Yes, they do! This is by design to help with progression.
No problem—just join in whenever you arrive!
That’s okay. Classes don’t have to be attended consecutively, and missing one won’t affect your progress.
No worries! We’re just happy whenever you can make it.
Your progress will be slower, but we’ll work with you. We appreciate you coming, regardless!
That’s fine; we have spares. We do ask that you have your own saber by the time you reach Novice level.
A parent or guardian will need to speak with “Sabermom”(Linzi) and watch at least one class(can be done at the same class). We have Blue Cards and first aid kits for safety as well.
It’s not required, but combat gloves are encouraged. The Flowbat style emphasizes control to avoid contact, but accidents happen, and we stop matches if things get intense. Safety gear is up to you.
Testing depends on the rank or tier, with testing times set for 8:00 PM. We can test two people each week.
Your Rank is your overall standing in the Order, and ranges from Youngling to Lord/Master. Your Tier is where you are in your current Lightsaber Form, and ranges from Beginner to Master. So if you have Rank Knight (F1T2, F4T3), you have gotten the 4th Rank in the Order, and gained Tier 2(Student) in Form 1 and Exemplar in 4.
We respect skills from other groups, but everyone spends time moving up through our ranks. We focus on making sure you’re skilled in what -we- do.
After 8:30, we have “Special Dispensation Matches.” Set your rules, and go all out! These matches allow for intense, controlled sparring beyond the usual structure.
Nothing! We do this for the love of saber fighting, training, teaching and making a community.
